AnyPS5 questions, answered
Short, sourced answers to the questions people ask most about AnyPS5. Numbers on this page update automatically from the project's GitHub repository.
What is AnyPS5?
AnyPS5 is an open-source tool, hosted on GitHub at boykopovar/AnyPS5, that converts PS5 executables into native Windows and Linux programs. It consists of a relinker, which converts a game's executable and its bundled modules, and AnyPS5's own implementations of the PS5 system libraries, which the converted program loads like any other library. GPU shaders are recompiled to SPIR-V and run through Vulkan.
Is AnyPS5 a PS5 emulator?
No. An emulator runs alongside a game and imitates the console every time you play. AnyPS5 converts the game once into a native program and provides replacement system libraries; nothing is emulated and there is no separate runtime process. The catch is similar, though: every system function and GPU feature a game uses has to be reimplemented before that game works.
Can I play PS5 games on my PC with AnyPS5 right now?
Only a few. The official compatibility table lists 1 playable game: Dreaming Sarah. Community testers have reported results for 34 games, and most of them stop at menus or reach gameplay only on testing branches. Check the games list before you invest time.
Which games work with AnyPS5?
The official table is the project's own verdict. Our games list combines it with community results and shows, for every game, the furthest stage reached, the platform and the build that was used, with links to the original reports.
Is AnyPS5 free and open source?
Yes. The code is published under the GNU General Public License, version 2 only, and the releases are free. Paid "premium" versions, license keys or donation walls in front of a download are scams.
Where can I download AnyPS5?
Only from github.com/boykopovar/AnyPS5/releases. The latest release is v0.1.1 (Sep 28, 2026), with a relinker and system libraries for Windows and Linux. Our download page lists the exact files and their SHA-256 hashes.
Is AnyPS5 safe?
The official files are published on the project's GitHub releases page together with SHA-256 digests that you can check. The real risk is fake copies: repositories and sites that reuse the name to spread something else. Download only from the official repository and compare the hash before you run anything.
Is AnyPS5 legal?
The project states that it does not include, distribute or require copyrighted software, firmware, cryptographic keys or proprietary libraries, and its code is designed that way. Using it is a separate question, because it works on game files, and the rules for copying or modifying software and for circumventing copy protection differ between countries. Only use files you are entitled to use. This is general information, not legal advice.
Does AnyPS5 include games, firmware or keys?
No, and neither does this site. The download contains only the relinker and AnyPS5's own libraries.
Do I need a PS5 or a jailbreak to use AnyPS5?
AnyPS5 needs the executable and data files of a game, with the executable and modules as plain (unencrypted) ELF files, and it does not include any. How such files are obtained is outside the scope of the project and of this site; we do not cover dumping or jailbreaking.
Does AnyPS5 work on Mac, Steam Deck, Android or iPhone?
Windows and Linux on x86-64 are the supported targets.
- macOS: the v0.1.1 release has no macOS files. The main branch has started adding x86-64 macOS output that runs under Rosetta, but it is not in a release yet.
- Steam Deck: it is an x86-64 Linux PC with an AMD GPU, so it is a Linux target in principle, but the official table has no Steam Deck result.
- Android and iOS: not supported. Every "AnyPS5 APK" is fake.
What are the AnyPS5 system requirements?
An x86-64 processor, a Vulkan 1.1 graphics card and Windows or Linux. Intel processors need the --to-intel option, and games that generate AMD-specific code while running still need an AMD processor. On Windows, installed RAM plus the page file must cover up to 13,824 MiB of direct memory per game. For reference, Dreaming Sarah runs at 60 FPS on a GTX 1050 Ti and 36 FPS on Intel HD Graphics 620. See the requirements table.
Do "100% shaders" and "86.46% libraries" mean games work?
No. The library figure counts the system functions the project has declared so far (3,028 of 3,502), not every PS5 system function, and the total grows as more are found. The shader figure means every tracked GPU instruction can be translated, not that every translation behaves correctly in every game. Only game-by-game testing shows compatibility.
How fast is AnyPS5?
It depends entirely on the game and the hardware. The official reference is Dreaming Sarah at a stable 60 FPS on a GTX 1050 Ti. Larger 3D games that reach gameplay on testing branches have been reported at low frame rates. Avoiding emulation removes one kind of overhead, but graphics translation, shader compilation and missing features still cost time.
How is AnyPS5 different from shadPS4 or Kyty?
shadPS4 is an emulator for PS4 games. Kyty (often called KytyPS5) is a separate emulator project. AnyPS5 converts PS5 executables ahead of time into native programs instead of emulating the console. They are independent projects, and none of them is affiliated with Sony.
Can AnyPS5 run GTA 6?
There are no AnyPS5 test reports for Grand Theft Auto VI. The closest data point is the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V, which has reached the "In game" stage on a testing branch (details). Treat videos or sites claiming that GTA 6 runs on PC through AnyPS5 with suspicion, and never download "AnyPS5 builds" from them.
Can AnyPS5 run Bloodborne?
Bloodborne is a PS4 game. AnyPS5 is built for PS5 executables and PS5 system libraries, so Bloodborne is not something it targets. PS4 games are the territory of PS4 emulators such as shadPS4.
Who makes AnyPS5?
The repository belongs to the GitHub user boykopovar and has 276 contributors. It was created on Aug 3, 2026 and published its first releases on September 28, 2026.
Is AnyPS5.blog the official AnyPS5 website?
No. AnyPS5.blog is an independent site that is not affiliated with the AnyPS5 developers or Sony. The project's official home is its GitHub repository.
How can I help the AnyPS5 project?
Test games and post detailed results in Game bring-up (our reporting tips list what to include), or contribute code following CONTRIBUTING.md. Never share game files, firmware or keys.
